 Cycling to Rootsfest    BC Ferries

The festival will provide a bicycle lock-up area for those who wish to ride to the festival. This area is not supervised.

At the Town & Country Shopping Mall (Victoria), the Galloping Goose Trail connects to the Lochside Regional Trail. This trail runs along the Pat Bay Highway, and through Sidney. Riders can cross the
highway by the McDonald Park pedestrian overpass. Sandown Park is a 2 block
ride.

Sandown Park is very close to the BC Ferry Corporation Swartz Bay Terminal.

After coming off the BC Ferry from Vancouver (Tsawwassen) or the Gulf Islands, you will be on Hwy 17. Look for the Tourist Information Booth on the right approx. 2km from the ferries. The very next exit on the right (first set of traffic lights) takes you directly to Sandown Park.

BC Transit is also adding a special night time route from Sandown Park to downtown Victoria at 11:15 each evening. The buses will leave Sandown Park and travel down the highway to Elk Lake, and will then follow the regular #70 route stopping at Royal Oak, McKenzie, Saanich Road, Finlayson and all stops from Hillside into Victoria connecting with downtown buses on Friday and Saturday evening. Please note that the Sunday evening buses will not make the downtown connections as those buses stop running at 11:00pm.

Call 382-6161 for more information.

The Washington State Ferries route from Anacortes, Washington, lands at Sidney, BC. Turn right onto Fifth Ave. and travel 4 blocks, left on Beacon Ave, go straight through the main intersection at the Pat Bay Hwy and continue down this road (which becomes McDonald Park Rd.) Stay on McDonald Park Rd until you see the signs for Sandown Park on Glamorgan Rd.
